Core power yoga is beyond developing six packs. There's more to core power yoga than meets the eye. Plus it is not for amateur yoga enthusiasts. If you thought yoga was easy, then core power yoga will challenge you to the core – mentally and physically. So what is core power yoga?
Before we break down core power yoga, let's understand what is included in core.
Core workout exercises are misunderstood the world over as people think that they only help in developing six-pack abs. However, outward appearances are a small part of the core and balance workouts. The core actually consists of many different muscles that stabilise the spine and pelvis, running through the entire length of the torso, front and back.
According to Arnav Sarkar, a weak core simply means, "The core muscles involve not just the muscles in front of the body commonly known as 'the 6 pack', they also involve the muscles of the lower back, and the oblique. If these muscles are weak, then it is known as a weak core."
Coming to core power yoga, it is an intense yoga practice that challenges you physically and mentally. It heals, purifies and pushes your body and mind. But it also connects you to your inner core, i.e. spiritually. Core power yoga is part of ashtanga yoga; it is a Western form of Indian Ashtanga yoga.
What you can expect with core power yoga
Core power yoga strengthens your abdomen and the back. It involves muscle toning postures too. Core power yoga also strengthens the hip and pelvis. You can expect to improve strength, stamina, endurance, improve concentration and reduce stress.
Core power yoga is performed in a heated room and the postures surround cardiovascular exercises. But it has to be done at a fast pace. Core power yoga is a great yoga exercise for athletes and sportspersons, as well as reasonably fit individuals who want to take their fitness training to the next level.
